The ministry of Network Youth Church (NYC) operates across Cumbria.
Our local NYC minister, Rachel Milburn, covers the whole of Appleby Deanery. Rachel currently helps us with youth groups here in Morland and Shap. She also runs youth groups in Brough and Kirkby Stephen
; and lunch clubs in Kirkby Stephen and Appleby Grammar schools. She offers assemblies and collective worship in some primary schools across the area and leads transition sessions for Year 6 pupils in the summer term. Rachel meets over 100 young people face to face each week. Young people from the Deanery attend the 'Dreaming the Impossible' summer camp in Stafford each year and have a weekend away at Knock Christian Centre. Rachel also runs an active listening group called 'Let’s Talk' in Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, helping young people with mental health, friendship issues and pastoral care. She has just started some bereavement support.
